Terms of Service
Welcome to Textmob. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully. By accessing or using Textmob (whether via website, mobile application, or API), you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The Platform
Textmob is a social networking and microblogging platform designed primarily for African communities across the continent and the diaspora. The platform enables users to share thoughts, videos, live streams, watch Snaps, manage personal or organizational profiles, and participate in the MobCoins economy.
2. Account Registration & Safety
- You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account on Textmob.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. Any activity that happens under your account is your responsibility.
- You must provide accurate information when registering and verify your account parameters when requested.
3. Account Types
We provide two distinct account types to match user needs:
- Individual Accounts: Intended for personal use, branding, social connection, content creation, and general participation in the monetization loop.
- Organisation Accounts: For businesses, institutions, non-profits, and verified brands. These come equipped with custom professional analytics and identity management metrics.
4. The MobCoins Economy
Textmob operates an in-app reward structure called MobCoins to incentivize active content contribution and direct creator support.
MobCoins are reward tokens issued to users based on creative engagement, live streaming activity, and follower gifts. MobCoins can be redeemed for airtime or local bank payouts once the platform minimum balance threshold is met.
Textmob strictly prohibits gaming, scripting, duplicate account farms, or automation to generate artificial MobCoins. Any user found utilizing system vulnerabilities or bots to harvest coins will face permanent deactivation and forfeit all outstanding earnings.
5. Get Verified (Blue Tick Subscriptions)
Textmob offers a monthly subscription plan for account verification badges:
- Cost: ₦500 per month (or currency equivalent).
- Requirements: In addition to the fee, accounts must have successfully published a minimum of 50 high-quality posts and have completed profile setup. Organisation accounts must also provide corporate identity references.
- Revocation: Violation of community guidelines will result in immediate loss of verification status without a refund.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to publish content or perform actions that:
- Are abusive, harassing, defamatory, or hateful toward any individual or group.
- Promote fraud, security breaches, or distribute malware.
- Infringe on third-party intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Attempt to overload, bypass, or compromise the system APIs.
7. Content Ownership & License
You retain full ownership of the text, images, and video content you publish to Textmob. However, by publishing content, you grant Textmob a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable license to host, distribute, display, modify, and translate your content for the sole purpose of operating and promoting the platform.
8. Limitation of Liability
Textmob is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, secure payment transfers under poor network conditions, or the accuracy of user-generated listings. In no event shall Textmob or its founders, Ismail Gidado and Ibrahim Gidado, be liable for any lost profits, lost data, or subsequent damages.
9. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication. Your continued use of the platform constitutes agreement to the updated Terms.
